Many people will write that the arma series is flawed, but that is because they have either not played it and just heard or read its bad, or played it for a very short time without looking in-depth at mods/addons etc. It seems you have a view of Arma 2 that is read rather than experienced. However this doesn't exclude the AI messing up and doing none of the above to stand tall and shoot you whilst you're hiding in a bush but one pixel of your elbow is sticking out. When I see ai in other games alternating awareness levels, can turn their head independantly of their body, use a scanning method instead of knowing exactly where the player is at all times when combat starts, uses walls as cover, or as points of advance to move along, use formations, leans/kneels/prones around corners/run across roads like everything a player would do, then we can argue about it more. I think the worst thing is those who employ static ai into missions, humans don't act like sentries in the clear open for the most part, that's dumb mission design, having dynamic ai and scripts and patrols(ai that turn their heads instead of following a simple forward track) and whole other world of mission-making I have absolutely not clue about can make for decent ai. The default AI is balls, yes modded ones which any community worth their salt use are scary, sometimes they're stupid (what ai doesn't have it's problems). Because this is like any other game you can't mod right?
